IS
FOOD Really Your Enemy
?
Food intolerance,
is the name we give to the condition which occurs
when we react or become unwell after eating or coming
into contact with a particular food or ingredient.
It is estimated according to UK dairy council that
45 per cent of Britons population suffer unpleasant
symptoms as a result of a food intolerance condition.
Symptoms range from skin reactions to a swelling of
the lips, mouth or throat, to breathing difficulties,
vomiting and diarrhoea.
Our bodies
can become intolerant to hundreds of different foods
and ingredients. The list of ingredients with the potential
to cause allergies or intolerances continues to grow,
including nuts, wheat, eggs, tomatoes, dairy (lactose),
yeast, seafood, soy and even citrus fruits.
The condition
can be linked to and triggered by other stress factors
that may have developed in the body. The good news
is that, In most cases, the symptoms will disappear
when we avoid the problem food or ingredient.
What
are the Reactions ?Difference between Food intolerance
and Food Allergy ?
A food
allergy is any abnormal reaction by the body's disease-fighting
immune system to an otherwise harmless food or component
of food. Allergic reactions to foods most often involve
the skin, the stomach and intestines, and the mouth
and airways.A life-threatening reaction (anaphylactic
shock) may involve all parts of the body including
the cardiovascular system. Symptoms may appear within
minutes or as long as several hours after eating the
allergy-provoking food.
When a
reaction to a food occurs that does not involve the
body's immune system, it is called food intolerance.
This is not a food allergy. Food intolerance stems
from problems with digestion or metabolism and however
can also have an impact on their weight or shape.
While food intolerance can be unpleasant, it's rarely
dangerous.

of food intolerance are usually multiple but digestive
