Cold
sores is caused by the herpes virus
Small
blisters, sometimes itchy and sore, that burst within
a few days and form a crust.
There
might be a tingling sensation around the mouth up
to 12 hours before the blisters appear.
Treatment
They
usually heal on their own within a couple of weeks.
A cold drink or an ice lolly can help to relieve the
symptoms.
If
they recur frequently, a
cream containing aciclovir can help reduce the
severity of an attack.
